Saturday 17 October, Soshanguve. Make new friends while you experience township life with someone who will be helping you to learn a bit of Zulu or Sotho. Sit down for a traditional African lunch and learn to talk about pap, marogo and mopani worms in the language of your choice.
We will start the morning at 9:00 in Soshanguve where we will be welcomed by our hosts. After an orientation and brief language session with our helpers we will hit the streets of Soshanguve and start greeting people in Zulu or Sotho. Visiting the kitchen where lunch is being prepared, we will help with the preparations while learning some food vocabulary.
After some more language learning on the streets we will return to our lunch venue for what will probably be the highlight of the day. Come see for yourself whether eating traditional African food can actually help you learn the language faster. This whole encounter will cost you only R400 and will contribute towards creating enployment for our language helpers. You should be ready to leave Soshanguve around 13:30. The group doing the whole language course will stay until 17:00.
To register,
RSVP to the event before Friday 9 October. Please note: No late bookings will be accepted as we need to finalise numbers for catering purposes. We also need to arrange for enough language helpers. Please have a look at the event for more options available.
Have a look at the Vulavula blog further down for more details. Please feel free to post any questions here.
Looking forward to seeing you in Soshanguve!
